چکیده

Introduction: Circulating monocyte count is a predictive factor for new atherosclerotic plaque development. Also, there is a strong inverse relationship between high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and atherosclerosis. It has been shown that monocyte count/HDL ratio (MHR) is a novel inflammatory marker. We aimed to investigate the relationship between MHR and saphenous vein graft disease (SVGD). Materials and Methods: A total of 369 patients were divided into three groups (with positive SVGD group = 150, negative SVGD group = 89, normal coronary artery group = 130). Baseline characteristics and laboratory parameters were recorded and compared between groups. Results: There were no statistically differences between SVGD positive and negative groups except age of SVG and left ventricular ejection fraction according to baseline characteristics. C-reactive protein, fasting blood glucose and mean platelet volume were higher in patients with positive SVGD group than negative SVGD group (respectively p values = 0.008, 0.048 and 0.042). MHR value was not statistically different between SVGD positive and negative groups ( p = 0.169) and normal coronary artery group ( p= 0.364). CRP was found an independent predictor factor of SVGD. Conclusion: There was no association between MHR and coronary atherosclerosis. MHR was not a predictive factor for SVGD.

Association between platelet to lymphocyte ratio and saphenous vein graft disease in patients with stable angina pectoris

OBJECTIVE In this study, we aimed to investigate the relation of platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in saphenous vein graft disease (SVGD) in patients with stable angina pectoris after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. METHODS A total of 455 patients were included in the study. There were 210 patients with SVGD and 245 patients without SVGD. The effects of different variables on SVGD were...

Prognostic factors for atherosclerosis progression in saphenous vein grafts: the postcoronary artery bypass graft (Post-CABG) trial. Post-CABG Trial Investigators.

OBJECTIVES The study was done to assess patients in the Post-Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (Post-CABG) trial to determine prognostic factors for atherosclerosis progression. BACKGROUND Saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) are effective in relieving angina and, in certain patient subsets, in prolonging life. However, the progression of atherosclerosis in many of these grafts limits their usefulness. ...

A potential marker of bare metal stent restenosis: monocyte count - to- HDL cholesterol ratio

BACKGROUND Oxidation and inflammation play significant roles in the pathogenesis of coronary artery diseases. Monocyte count to high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ratio (MHR) is a new marker and has revealed as an indicator of inflammation in the literature. The present study aimed to search the effect of MHR on in-stent restenosis (ISR) in patients with stable or unstable angina pector...

Long-term patency rate for radial artery vs. saphenous vein grafts using same-patient materials.

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to assess the long-term graft patency rate of the radial artery (RA), in comparison to the saphenous vein (SV) in patients harvested for both vessels. METHODS AND RESULTS RA and SV were concomitantly used for coronary artery bypass grafting in 318 patients in an 8-year period from January 2002 to March 2010. During follow-up, graft patency was asses...

The role of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio in saphenous vein graft disease

I read with great interest the article by Kundi et al. (1) entitled “Association between platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and saphenous vein graft disease in patients with stable angina pectoris,” published online in Anatol J Cardiol 2015 May 5. In their study, authors reported that there was a significant association of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) with saphenous vein graft disease (SVGD) an...
